Nancy was Nanny to me, and she called me Sar-ha. I have known her all of my life and she was one of my very favorite people. When I was three and four I would go to work with her at the Canajoharie library. I watched The Sound of Music as a young child at her house and it remains my favorite movie to this day. Every year she would give me an ornament for Christmas and they still hang on my tree. When she had Michael the only present I wanted for my birthday that August was to travel to Arcade and meet him. I have since moved to WNY myself and Nancy made herself very important to my three children. She would send a beautiful Christmas books with coordinating ornaments to each of them. As a preschool teacher these beautiful literary treasures are shared in my classrooms, too. I am so deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was special. Michael, I know this has been an incredibly difficult time and I'm thinking about you.

Nancy leaves a wonderful and lasting legacy at the Stevens Memorial Community Library. Our family has known Nancy for almost 20 years. She helped instill the love of reading in both of my children. She always asked about them when I would see her at the library. My daughter actually wants to be an author some day and always looked up to Nancy and her love for books. Nancy will be missed by the Attica community. It was a pleasure to know her and will be remembered for her care for others, her desire to give children the world through reading, and her infectious smile. Our hearts go out to Michael and the rest of her family.

I had the pleasure to have worked with Nancy from 2002 until she retired at Pioneer. During that time, department meetings consisted of three "older" ladies and a very tall, often subliminally sarcastic, self :) It was like an episode of "The Golden Girls" but with me being Bea Arthur. Nancy's kindness and ever-present smile was there when my father and grandmother passed away...and the fun-loving twinkle in her eye was there right until Pat passed in September. A dedicated librarian until the end... I will truly miss her.
