Obituary

Carol K. Krieger of Delevan, NY passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at her daughter's residence at the age of 79.

She was born on January 21, 1939 in Wethersfield, NY, a daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Hyman) Kersch. She started school at age 4 with her brother, Walter. During her school years she played clarinet and oboe. She was the Valedictorian of her high school graduating class from Letchworth Central School in 1956.

She immediately started work at Citizen Central Bank in Arcade. In early 1959, she met her future husband, Wayne Krieger as he was coming into the bank. They were married on November 12, 1960 in Bliss, NY. Wayne and Carol were blessed with three amazing children: Gina (TJ) Gasper of Delevan, Tara (John) Dedrick of Allegany and Christa (Daniel) Heckathorn of Franklinville; seven grandchildren: Lance (Roseann) Sworts of New Kensington, PA, Luke Sworts of Rochester, Johnston Dedrick of Brooklyn, NY, Jefferson Dedrick of Syracuse, EmaLee of Allegany, Jennifer Heckathorn of Syracuse and Josiah Gasper of Delevan; four great-grandchildren: Bella, Lucas and Lincoln Sworts, Lillian Madathil-Sworts. She is also survived by her brothers: Walter (Terri) Kersch of Albany, Robert (Marsha) Kersch of Hermitage along with several nieces and nephews.

Carol was always very crafty and artistic. She was active in home bureau when her children were young and usually had knitting needles or a paint brush in her hands for the most of her life.

She was a former member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Delevan and a current member of St. Mary's Church in Arcade.

Carol had several jobs and was very successful in each. She was the Assessor for the Town of Yorkshire, Tax Collector for Pioneer Central School and sold Real Estate for Wolfer Realty, Realty USA and Howard Hanna.

In her later years, Carol renewed her love of painting and spent many hours creating beautiful masterpieces.

Waiting patiently in heaven for Carol is her husband of 49 years, Wayne and many dear friends, Arlene and Patsy to name a few.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Philomena's Church, 26 Plymouth Ave, Franklinville, NY 14737. Interment will be held in Delevan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wayne Krieger Memorial Scholarship (https://cattfoundation.org/give/) or sent directly to: CRCF 301 N. Union St. #203, Olean, NY 14760, ATTN: Wayne Krieger Memorial Scholarship.

I always thought of Carol as one of the most caring people as well as one of the smartest girls in the LCS class of 1956. I was proud to be able to call her a friend and indeed enjoyed talking to her once or twice when she was attempting to put the last reunion together. Our thought and prayers are with you. So sorry to hear of Carol's passing.Carol helped us when we moved back to Delevan in 2004 by providing great insights into the housing market at that time. Throughout the years we would see her and Wayne in our travels in the Delevan/Yorkshire area and she was, always available for a chat if she saw us driving by on Worden Road.. When we decided to leave NY and move to the warmer climate in the South., she listed our house and provided to us once again valued information on selling our house in a slow market. She was always cheerful and had a pleasant demeanor, traits that we will always remember her for. Sincerely, Chris & Josie Myszkowski

We were so saddened to hear of Carol's passing. She was a great friend whom we loved dearly. We loved looking at houses with her. Carol probably showed us every house in Arcade. We enjoyed her company and will miss her greatly. We will keep up the tradition of visiting her on Memorial Day at the Delevan cemetery. Nick and Veronica Glasner
