Roger L. Davis, of Very Rd., Machias, died Tuesday August 6, 2019 in Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, at the age of 69.
He was born October 18, 1949 in Springville, New York a son of the late Claude and Fern (nee Luckey) Davis. He was a 1967 graduate of Pioneer High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1972 sending teletype messages in Germany. He attended Genesee Community College and Brockport for accounting.
He worked as a security guard from 1975-78 in Batavia, as a horse trainer from 1979-1984 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey and Pompano Beach, FL and was a certified nurse's aide at Fiddler's Green Manor in Springville from 1986-2003.
He liked to garden, enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, reading, watching baseball and horse racing, spending time with his grandchildren and lifelong friend - Jim Williams. Everyone knew him for his humor and jokes.
He is survived by his wife - Adeline (nee Crane) Davis whom he married March 17, 1973 in Bliss; a daughter - Erica (Shawn) Hutchinson of Delevan; two grandchildren - Dylan and Mackenzie Hutchinson; a brother - Jerry (Joyce) Davis of Elsie, MI; a sister - Gloria (Ronald) Flicker of Lynchburg, VA and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held in July 2020.
