Obituary for Joanne B. "Sis" DeGolier

Joanne B. "Sis" DeGolier, of Middle Rd., Sardinia, died Sunday August 18, 2019 in Buffalo General Hospital at the age of 81.

She was born June 30, 1938 in Sardinia, New York a daughter of the late William J. and Deloris (nee Silloway) Hopkins.

She attended the Sardinia United Methodist Church and was involved with many church functions and was a member of the Chaffee-Sardinia Firemens Womens Auxiliary. She enjoyed her time at the casino and going to Strawberry Fields for her daily visits. Sis' most treasured accomplishment is her loving family. She happily anticipated and loved family gatherings.

She retired from Pioneer Central School as Manager of the Middle School cafeteria after 46 years of service. She co-owned the Shamrock Inn for several years. Doug & Sis loved competing in horsepulls all over the Northeast and formed countless friends along the way.

Her husband Douglas DeGolier whom she married June 1, 1956 in Arcade died in 1975.

She is survived by her sons - Leslie Jay (Deanna) DeGolier of East Concord, Robert Douglas DeGolier of Rochester; three grandchildren - Leslie Jay (Holly) DeGolier of East Concord, Travis (Amanda) DeGolier of East Concord, Joshua DeGolier of Rochester; three great-grandchildren - Natalie, Micah and Charlotte; sister-in-law - Barbara Hopkins of Sardinia; 'sister' - Virg Domes of Sardinia; special family members - Don & Chris Hopkins of Sardinia and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brother - Norman "Skip" Hopkins and daughter-in-law - Judy DeGolier.

Friends may call Wednesday August 21, 2019 from 6-8 pm and Thursday August 22, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at W. S. Davis Funeral Home, Inc., 358 W. Main St., Arcade. Funeral services will be held Friday August 23, 2019 at 11 am in Sardinia United Methodist Church, 12369 Savage Rd., Sardinia.

Interment will be in Sardinia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autism Up, 855 Publishers Pkwy, #4, Webster, 14580 or www.autismup.org.
