Obituary

John (Jack) Kenneth Nelligan, Jr. died peacefully in Machias, NY on October 6, 2019 at the age of 90.

Jack is survived by his children Sherry (Jim) Diem of Rushford, NY; Bonnie Jeffery of Arcade, NY; Connie (Chuck) Eckelberry of Zephyrhills, FL; Rebecca (Roger) Newsome of Liverpool, PA; Bob (Bonnie) Kendall of Westfield, NY; Peggy (Dave) Tessmer of Collins, NY; Jackie (Dale) Bockhahn of Yorkshire, NY; Lori (Art) Martin of Palmyra, NY; Sarah Hartman of Clarendon, PA ; Corey (Angie) Thaine of Bargersville, NH and Charlie (Missy) Hartman of Roulette, PA. He is also survived by his foster brother, Howard Buck of Fredonia, NY and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased in death by his parents; sister, Florence Tatlow; brother, Gary Nelligan; and grandsons Ben Bockhahn and Matthew Kendall.

Jack was born on May 23, 1929 in Springville, NY to John and Virginia (Pierce) Nelligan of the Forks in Yorkshire, NY.

Jack was a farmer his entire life and also retired from the Town of Yorkshire after many years of service. He was well known in the community for his horse and buggy rides, participation in the Caravan for Cancer for more than 20 years, where he was honored for his dedication, horse shows and trail riding clubs. He also took part in the local holiday parades and was known for his sense of humor. He loved music and he loved to dance. He was also a member of the Arcade Church of God.

There will be a brief celebration of life held at the Arcade Church of God, 7893 Countyline Road, Yorkshire, NY on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 7 – 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pines Healthcare Machias, 9822 Rt. 16, Machias, NY 14101.

There will be a brief celebration of life held at the Arcade Church of God, 7893 Countyline Road, Yorkshire, NY on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 7 – 9 p.m.

So very sorry for the family. Sorry I can't be there. I have a lot of great memories when i was young, always going to his house, going on buggy rides, etc. RIP Jack.
