Robert M. Whitaker of Arcade passed away on January 8, 2020 at the age of 55.
Bob graduated from Pioneer High School, had a Mechanical Engineering Technology AAS degree from Erie Community College and Management BS degree from Houghton College. Bob was a 31-year employee for Moog, Inc., having worked most recently as a Tool Designer in Space and Defense Group. He enjoyed his summers with Betsy on Silver Lake, fishing with his grandson, Cameron, and entertaining friends on the “party barge”. Bob spent hours hunting in his woods and searching for the perfect Hot Wheel car to add to his vast collection. His most important role was as Jackie’s dad. He took great pains to teach her the life skills she would need to be a successful and independent woman. Just recently, Bob taught Jackie how to remove a bathroom sink trap to retrieve a precious earring that had accidentally washed down the drain. Bob could fix anything, from plumbing to heating and electrical. He loved music, bourbon, and everything that would make him laugh. He was silly and his laugh was infectious. Bob was a loyal, honest, and hard-working man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert P. and Rhoda (nee Ginger), Bob is survived by his siblings Jeffrey, Lynn (John) Doyle, Julie Suarez; loving daughter Jacqueline M. Whitaker; loving grandson Cameron J. Mankins; loving partner Betsy Monier-Williams; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Family will be present to receive friends Thursday, January 16, 1-3 PM, 5-7 PM; Friday, January 17, 2-4 PM, 6-8 PM at W.S. DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 358 Main St., Arcade (585-492-2890) where a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 AM. Flowers gratefully declined.
