James A. Cheman, Sr. of Arcade, died Thursday May 7, 2020 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Williamsville at the age of 79.
He was born April 12, 1941 in Lackawanna, New York a son of the late John Matthew and Catherine Angeline (Markovich) Cheman. He was a lifelong Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan. He had an extreme love for Christmas, enjoyed shopping on eBay and loved collecting danbury mint cars from the 50's and 60's. He also enjoyed making ornaments from the movie, Cars and selling them on eBay. His love for collecting Hess trucks was also passed on to his family.
He was a truck driver for Safety Kleen in Corfu.
His wife - Alexandria "Sandy" (Biskup) Cheman whom he married November 10, 1962 in Lackawanna died April 25, 2007.
He is survived by his children - Tambra Cheman of Depew, James Jr. (Julie) Cheman of Buffalo, Julianne (Scott) Wopperer of Holland, JacLynn (Troy) Klahn of Arcade; six grandchilden - Kevin Brooks, Julianne Cheman, Jaiden Klahn, Xander Wopperer, Morgan Cheman and Cameron Klahn; three great-grandchildren - Izabella, Vivianne and Oliver; his daughter-in-law: Erica Cheman; also survived by his siblings: Catherine (late Robert Sr.) Crowe, Juliann (late Timothy Sr.) Burke, Michael (Karin) Cheman, Marc (Pauline) Cheman, Mary (Raymond) Reid, Barbara (John) Comerford, Teresa (Silvio) Lirussi, Anne Marie (Matthew) Anderson; his sister-in-law: Frances Cheman along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son - Jonathan Cheman who passed away on March 22, 2015; his brother - John Cheman, III.
There is no prior visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
