Clair D. Williams of Freedom, NY passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw at the age of 87.

He was born June 16, 1932 in Freedom, NY a son of the late David and Alice (Walradt) Williams. He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran and served from 1952-1954. He was also a member of the Arcade VFW and member and past chief of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a heavy equipment operator and worked construction out of Local Union 17 in Buffalo, NY. Prior to becoming a heavy equipment operator, he had worked on the B&O Railroad.

Clair is survived by his wife: Frances (Hatch) Williams whom he married on May 29, 1954 in Centerville; his children: Randy (Sharon) Williams of Bliss and Tracey (William) Barnetson of Freedom; his granddaughter - Sam (Colin Kosmerl) Barnetson of Freedom; his step-granddaughters: Alex (Ben) Stanford of Holland and Lee (Joe) Seda of Washingtonville, NY; also survived by four step-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law: Glenda (late Bill) Sprague and Donna Williams both of Yorkshire as well several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Jack, Paul, Larry and Gail Williams; his father and mother-in-law: Jack and Pauline Hatch; three sisters-in-law.

There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Freedom Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Arcade VFW, 550 W. Main St., Arcade, NY 14009 or to the Centerville Fire Department, 8936 County Rd. 3, Freedom, NY 14065.
