Richard S. Wheaton of Yorkshire, NY passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his residence at the age of 89.

He was born October 26, 1930 in Franklinville, NY a son of the late Harry and Dora (Swartz) Wheaton. He was an exempt member of the Holland Fire Department and past chief serving in the 1980's. He was also a member of the Holland Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, woodworking, hunting and trap shooting.

He was an electrician for Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna.

Richard is survived by his wife, Elma (nee Dawson) (Tillinghast) Wheaton whom he married on March 18, 1996 in Holland; his children: Carol (Paul) Ekes of Holland, Patricia (Wilson) Stevens of Orange Park, FL, Barbara (Robert) Hibit of Olathe, KS, Donna (Danny) Ervin of Salisbury, MD and Douglas (Karen Ivon) Wheaton of Arcade; also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Faith (nee Linde) Wheaton who passed away in 1993; 4 brothers.

There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment to be held in Holland Cemetery, Holland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holland Fire Department, P.O. Box 610, Holland, NY 14080 or to the Yorkshire Fire Department, P.O. Box 145, Yorkshire, NY 14173.
