Matriarch of the Ramadhan Family

On December 8, 2020, the sun shined brightly and Maryama Jackson, age 94, Matriarch of the Ramadhan family was called to rest.

Maryama, eldest of the 12 Ramadhan children was greeted at Heavan’s Gates by her mother and father (Mary and Obidiah Ramadhan), her husband (Theodore Jackson), her grandmother (Rena Webb), her son (Leroy Jackson) and her 9 siblings that preceded her in death (Obidiah, Zarefayah, Thyleb, Shagara, Sahara, Arthmard, Ezaldeen, Naser, and Mohammed).

She leaves to mourn her daughter’s: Ramona Williams of West Valley, Teaselman (Stanley) McCarty of West Valley, Regina Emond of Salamanca, her son: Leonard Jackson of Gowanda; her brothers: Allee Ramadhan Sr. of Maryland and Abu Ramadhan of Salamanca; her granddaughters: Maryama McCarty and Sara Williams; her grandsons: Ebraheema Jackson, Ismail Williams, Stanley McCarty, John Emond Jr., And Hakeem McCarty, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and strangers alike.

Mary, otherwise known as Grandma, Gi-Gi Aunt, Sister, Cousin and Friend- cared for, prayed and provided for many generations, of Ramadhan's and any others seeking her care. She will be greatly missed.

She will be laid to rest at the Jabul-Arabia Cemetery in West Valley, NY at 2pm on December 11, 2020. Due to Covid-19 a graveside ceremony will be held and a celebration of her life is planned on August 6, 2021

Heaven gained an angel. My sincere condolences to the Jackson / Ramadhan family. Tish, your mom was a strong woman who showered others with anything she had. She will always be remembered. My heart goes out to you and the rest of the family. She will rest in paradise.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the Ramadhan Family Matriarch, Maryama. There are no words to express the impact Miss Mary had as a stabilizing force in many lives. I pray that the family will find peace knowing that she will live on in many hearts, minds and lives. May the Comforter be with you all in this difficult season.
