Leah "Cookie" Rachelle Wiedeman of Sardinia, NY passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw at the age of 83.

She was born April 16, 1937 in Charles, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Ellis J. and Lois (Naugle) Dick.

She always had a big heart. In her early years, she worked for a family in Springville as an in home babysitter and caregiver. She had also worked at Our Lady of Victory as a care aid. Prior to retirement, she worked for Fisher Price in Holland and Steuben Foods in Elma as a production worker.

For most of Leah's life, she did what she did best. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The love that she showed her family was like nothing else. She took her job of being the head of the family very seriously. Whether she was lending a shoulder to cry on or being a personal taxi cab, babysitter, banker or being there to give a hug or lending an ear to listen to, she did it with a smile.

Leah enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, going to the casino and always enjoyed listening to some good Old Conway Twitty or George Jones. Most importantly, she enjoyed her family. For Leah, family was everything and it was important for her family to always be together which is why she hosted the family Christmas at her home into her 70's. Cooking, baking and hanging stocking with everyone's names on them, various camping trips, family vacations, parties in the park or in her yard were just all ways for her to show her family how much they all meant to her and to instill the importance of family to all of her loved ones. Her love was unconditional and felt by all.

Her husband, Norman A. Wiedeman who she married on February 2, 1957 in Sardinia, passed away on June 12, 2019.

Leah is survived by her children: Joanne (Dennis) Allan of Elton, Cindy (Jim) Wolcott of Yorkshire, Cathy (Phil) Petri of Arcade, Michael (Valerie) Wiedeman of East Aurora and Judy (Jerry) Rodgers of Arcade; her siblings: Shirley (late Bill) Rhoades of Yorkshire, Dennis (late Violet) Dick of Sardinia, Wanda (late Jack) McKeown of Arizona, Sharon (Jack) Tousley of Yorkshire, her sister-in-law: Dolores Chriss of Machias, and Sylvia (late Ronald) Dick of Randolph; 17 grandchildren: Chris (Rosemary) Warner, Jason Petri, Patty (Greg) Palmisano, Nick Wolcott, Amber (John) Wente, Katelyn (Amos) Milewski, Hailey Rodgers, Marc, Mason, Damian, Greyson, Jennifer and Jacqueline Wiedeman; 16 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Nathan, Samantha, Carsen, Austin, Ethen, Skyler, Jax, Isaac, Keira, Brayden, Reece, Meredith, Dean, Max and Benjamin; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings: Janet (Bruce) Kramer, Don (Marva) Dick, Ronald Dick; infant Brenda Dick and Charles "Chuck" Dick; sister-in-law, Audrey (Donald) Dick

My life as a young boy was enriched by Cook's caring and understanding in nature many times over. I will never forget the Dick family picnics in her backyard and that famous mac salad she always made. Deeply saddened.

RIP aunt Cook. I remember coming to visit grandma and we all would go play bingo. We would all laugh and have a great time together. I will miss you but knowing you are in a better place and out of pain makes my heart a little less painful. I love you aunt Cook and we all will be together when God calls us all home.❤❤❤
